Students at Anna McCabe Elementary School celebrate Red Nose Day May 25, raising awareness of those living in poverty.

SMITHFIELD – Students and staff at Anna McCabe Elementary School celebrated Red Nose Day on May 25.

With the help of Anna McCabe’s Parent Teacher Organization, hundreds of red noses were purchased for the occasion.

“The McCabe family was able to be kind and help raise awareness at the same time,” Anna McCabe employee Pamela Traverse said in a press release.

The red nose is meant to be eye-catching and curious, encouraging onlookers to research what Red Nose Day is all about.

Red Nose Day is a fundraising campaign that raises money to help transform the lives of children living in poverty in the United States and internationally.

Companies like Walgreens and Duane Reade sell the signature red noses for a dollar, 50 cents of which goes to charity.
