SCITUATE- Police say they have a suspect in the Dec. 29 fatal hit-and-run collision on Plainfield Pike, but aren't naming the person and haven't made an arrest yet.

Police responded to reports of a man walking down the travel lane near the Scituate Reservoir Causeway around 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 29. Upon arrival, police discovered the victim was struck by a vehicle that had left the scene.

A 30-year-old Providence resident, Demetrio Tem-Temaj, died in the collision.

Scituate Police Chief Donald Delaere said local police are coordinating with the Rhode Island State Police and more details will be released by the end of the week.

The suspect was believed to be driving a 2016-2018 red Chevrolet Cruze, and the vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle. Police said they suspected damage on the front right fender, headlamp and possibly the passenger side mirror or windshield.
