Join the Backyard Bird Count at West Hill Dam

UXBRIDGE, Mass. – Join Blackstone River Valley National Historic Park volunteers and the West Hill Team to explore how winter resident and migrant birds are surviving at West Hill Dam, 518 East Hartford Ave., on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m.

Help collect data for the annual Backyard Bird Count for Cornell University. Explore various habitats and the birds that migrate or make their home in the pine groves, marshes, and riparian (river) habitats of West Hill Dam.

Participants should dress for the weather, be prepared to hike about a mile to the various sites; snow shoes or deep snow boots are recommended. All are welcome to bring binoculars, pack a snack and water. Participants will review observations over warm beverages while supplies last.

Youth under the age of 18 should bring an adult.

For more information, call Park Ranger Viola at 978-318-8417.

In case of rain or heavy snow, the program will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m.
