Council approves plan for town buildings

NORTH SMITHFIELD – The Town Council has unanimously approved a plan for renovation of town facilities that was presented last month by architects from Saccoccio and Associates and recommended by the Municipal Building Review Task Force.

The construction project, which will be financed with a $5.3 million bond approved by voters in 2014, will see full renovation of the former Kendall Dean School, and lesser repairs to the town annex, which currently houses some municipal offices, as well as the police station. Work at Kendall Dean, which will include renovation of the Town Council chambers and consolidation of some town and school offices, will total $3.5 million.
