The concert will feature the Mount Chorus, Jazz Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble as well as special guest concert pianist Suzanna Laramee. She will join the Academy Band to perform the Grieg’s Piano Concerto.

Laramee received her bachelor’s degree in piano from Oklahoma City University and her master’s degree in piano from The University of Kansas. She has received several prizes in international competitions, including: First prize, The Gina Bachauer International Amateur Piano Competition; second prize, Washington International Piano Artists Competition; third prize, Boston International Piano Competition and fourth prize, The International Piano Competition for Outstanding Piano Amateurs in Paris.

In the first half of the Mount Spring Concert, Laramee will perform three pieces for solo piano. As part of the second half of the concert, she will collaborate with two MSC seniors Jules Kouki and Molly Valley. Laramee will accompany Kouki on a violin solo and Valley on a flute solo. The grand finale of the concert will be the first movement of the Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor.

“Having an opportunity for the students and me to perform with such an outstanding musician is an amazing experience,” Marc Blanchette, music director at Mount, said. “To be able to perform the Grieg’s Piano Concerto is icing on the cake. It is going to be a wonderful experience for performers and audience alike.”
