Public forum on school safety is Tuesday at McCourt Middle School

CUMBERLAND – The Cumberland School Department will host a public forum to share updates on school safety protocols, hear concerns, and answer questions from the community on Tuesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m., at McCourt Middle School, 45 Highland Ave.

“We know that in light of recent events, parents and others want to know about our schools and what we have done and are doing to keep our students safe,” Supt. Robert Mitchell said in a news release. “In working with the mayor, other town officials, and the police department, we thought this would be the best way for us to keep the community informed of our policies, procedures, and safety precautions.”

Mayor Bill Murray and Mitchell, along with other local officials, will lead a discussion on school safety, focusing on three main areas: current safety protocols, plans to improve school safety, and an open forum for community members to share concerns and offer suggestions.

Parents, students, staff and community members are encouraged to attend.
