Chieftain Challenge 5K returns to PHS for 8th annual race

GLOCESTER – The Ponaganset Middle School Physical Education and Health Department is welcoming participants to its 8th annual Chieftain Challenge 5K Road Race, a 3.1-mile run/walk that begins at Ponaganset High School on Anan Wade Road and ends at Ponaganset Middle School on Rustic Hill Road, on Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m.

The fee is $20 per participant, with all Foster-Glocester students taking part for free, and on-site signups will begin at 9 a.m. on race day.

Each participant will receive a T-shirt. There will be post-race food, refreshments, and awards for the overall winners and top male and female runners in five age divisions.

Participants are encouraged to park at the middle school. A school bus will be provided to transport everyone to the starting point at the high school. The bus will leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. Participants will also have the option of parking at the high school and taking a bus back there at 11:30 a.m.
