School vacation programs offered at the Blackstone Library

BLACKSTONE – The Blackstone Public Library, 86 Main St., announces the following April school vacation events.

• On Tuesday, April 17, at 2 p.m., kids ages 7 and up are invited to a book tasting. Participants will “sample” a variety of literary genres in a restaurant-themed setting. Each person will be given five minutes with a book, and will then rate it based on title, cover art, topic/theme and other factors. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited and registration is required.

• On Thursday, April 19, from 3 to 5 p.m., drop in to make a glass marble magnet using cutout photos from favorite magazines and books. Appropriate for ages 5 and up. No registration is required.

• A pirate-themed puppet show will be held on Friday, April 20, at 11 a.m. The presentation of “Rachel Skullcap and the Lady Pirate” includes a special striped, old-fashioned puppet booth and features stories such as “The Pirate and the Parrot” and “The Pig Who Would Be Pirate.” Appropriate for ages 3 and up. Registration is required.
