Our Place Tuxedo reports 'business as usual' after fire

NORTH PROVIDENCE – Our Place Tuxedo & Uniforms, at 2044 Smith St. is up and running following a Saturday night electrical fire that filled the store with smoke, but did little other damage. There was no structural damage to the wood-frame building.

And for prom-goers and bridegrooms, it’s business as usual, as tuxedos and formal wear are all stored off-site, at the firm’s Pawtucket warehouse. In fact, a Centredale neighbor, John Sisto, is allowing use of his storefront across the street from Our Place to customers for pickup of rentals, assuring no formal wear is impacted by any odor of smoke.

The store is currently undergoing a thorough cleaning by professionals, according to spokesman John Hopkins, but remains open during regular business hours.

Customers with questions can phone 401-231-2370.

“There will be no interruption in service, and all of our records are backed up off site. All our files are OK,” said Hopkins.

Hopkins notes that Our Place has a Pawtucket warehouse because the company has a huge inventory, and services more than 300 stores from Maine to Florida, so the North Providence store is just a small part of the company's business.

Clients hoping to make arrangements for future weddings are invited to phone the store for updates on when fittings will resume. "It will be very soon," reports Hopkins, as cleanup is proceeding quickly.
