SMITHFIELD – Being in the restaurant business for 25 years, you learn a few things. For owner Kenneth Orabona and his future son-in-law Juan Perez, that means bringing fresh food to the table with locally supplied meats and produce.

The farm-to-table restaurant, Kenny O’s Ristorante, 970 Douglas Pike, in Smithfield, is open for breakfast and lunch from Tuesday through Saturday, from 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and for dinner Thursday through Saturday, from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“We like to think of it as Providence-quality food at Smithfield prices,” Orabona said.

All the beef and pork come from Blackbird Farm, the milk and other dairy products come from Wright’s Farm, and eggs from Stamp Egg Farm. The pair are looking to purchase seasonal produce from local markets as well, and say they hope to provide the freshest, unprocessed food products available.

The renovated space now has a bar area that features drink specials such as a grilled-shrimp-topped spicy bloody mary. Perez created menu items such as fried calamari two ways, with balsamic or with banana peppers, and the corned-beef hash waffle.

The corned-beef hash and sausage are both created in-house.

“Our goal is to build an affordable menu that people will love and keep coming back to,” Orabona said.

The menu features burgers, wraps, salads and sandwiches, along with a classic breakfast menu complete with eggs Benedict, home fries and the hungry man breakfast.

The man behind the meals, Juan Perez, created the menu with future father-in-law and owner of Kenny O’s Ristorante, Kenneth Orabona.
