Cumberland’s Walsh receives All-LEC baseball honor at RIC

PROVIDENCE – Cumber-land native and Rhode Island College junior first baseman Tyler Walsh earned All-Little East Conference honors on Tuesday for his performance on the baseball team.

Walsh, a 2015 graduate of La Salle Academy who was an All-State baseball and hockey player with the Rams, was selected to the Second Team as a first baseman. He played in 35 games, starting all of them, and batted .368 (50-for-136) with 34 runs scored, 50 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 32 runs batted in. He also owned a .596 slugging percentage, a .488 on-base percentage, and a .993 fielding percentage.

Walsh’s six home runs were the sixth most in the conference, while his 11 doubles ranked him eighth. His .488 on-base percentage and .596 slugging percentage were both ranked third in the LEC.
