Cumberland’s Walsh receives All-LEC baseball honor at RIC

First baseman is also Third-Team All-England selection

PROVIDENCE – Cumberland native and Rhode Island College junior first baseman Tyler Walsh recently earned All-Little East Conference honors for his performance on the baseball team.

Walsh was also named a Third-Team All-New England selection by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA), in conjunction with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), which honored 55 players from 27 different schools in the New England region.

Walsh, a 2015 graduate of La Salle Academy who was an All-State baseball and hockey player with the Rams, was selected to the Second Team as a first baseman. He played in 35 games, starting all of them, and batted .368 (50-for-136) with 34 runs scored, 50 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs, and 32 runs batted in. He also owned a .596 slugging percentage, a .488 on-base percentage, and a .993 fielding percentage.

Walsh’s six home runs were the sixth most in the conference, while his 11 doubles ranked him eighth. His .488 on-base percentage and .596 slugging percentage were both ranked third in the LEC.
