Lincoln’s Zammarelli enjoys superb start with Mariners’ Class A-Advanced team

MODESTO, Calif. – Lincoln's Nick Zammarelli, a 2013 graduate of Lincoln High who was an All-State infielder for the Lions' baseball team, is enjoying an outstanding season in his third season in the Seattle Mariners' organization with the Modesto Nuts of the Class A-Advanced California League.

In his first 37 games, Zammarelli is batting .317 with 44 hits, 20 runs scored, and 20 runs batted in. He leads the team in doubles (10) and triples (five), is second on the team in hits and slugging percentage (.482), and third in batting average, runs scored, and RBIs.

He’s also tied for the league lead in triples, as well as tied for sixth in hits.

He has played 11 games in right field, seven at first base, and five in left field, while spending 14 games as a designated hitter.

Zammarelli, who attended Elon University in North Carolina and was selected in the eighth round of the 2016 MLB Draft, is a career .303 hitter in 211 minor league games. Last season, he played for the Class A Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League and overcame a slow start to bat .282 in 109 games.
