Former Scituate star Cottam cops GNAC Third-Team lax honors at Simmons

WINTHROP, Mass. – Mallory Cottam, a 2015 graduate of Scituate High and a junior midfielder on the Simmons College women’s lacrosse team, was recently named to the GNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference) All-Conference Third Team after putting together an outstanding season with the Sharks.

Cottam scored 37 goals this season, including 23 in GNAC play to rank 14th in the conference. Cottam’s 40 points also placed her 20th on the conference leaderboard, while her 10 free-position goals put her 11th in the GNAC.

Cottam also proved valuable on the draw as well, winning 60 draws to lead the team and place fifth on the school’s single-season list, and her 43 draw controls in conference matches has her seventh in the league. Cottam caused 27 turnovers as well, with almost half coming against GNAC rivals with 13, which was good for 12th among the league leaders.

Cottam has put together an outstanding offensive career after registering just seven points as a freshman. Her 73 career goals (in only 54 matches) is seventh on the Sharks’ all-time list, and she ranks fourth with 112 draw controls, sixth with 16 free-position scores, and 10th with 36 caused turnovers.
