Scituate businesses receive tobacco sales compliance certificates

SCITUATE – The Scituate Prevention Partnership has announced that Scituate Liquors on Hartford Avenue, and the former Rite-Aid Pharmacy location on Village Plaza Way (now a Walgreens location), are being recognized with certificates for complying with tobacco sales laws.

The businesses were selected as part of an annual, unannounced inspection, in which a percentage of the town’s businesses that sell tobacco products are chosen.

The goal is to verify that identification with a birth date is shown, proving purchasers are at least 18 years old.

The businesses were scheduled to be recognized during the May 10 Scituate Town Council meeting.
