Five local athletes earn Little East’s Spring All-Academic honors

PROVIDENCE – Five collegiate student-athletes from Cumberland and Lincoln were among the 247 who were recently named to the 2018 Little East Conference Spring All-Academic team for their performances in the classroom this year.

Honored from the Rhode Island College baseball team were Lincoln senior Andrew Veiga and Cumberland juniors Tyler Calabro and Tyler Walsh. Cumberland sophomore Jacklyn Xavier, who recently earned Division III All-American honors with the RIC women's outdoor track and field team's 4x100 relay squad, was also recognized, as was Lincoln junior Zach LaRose, who plays for the Salem State University men's lacrosse team.

Student-athletes earned recognition by being at least a sophomore with a minimum grade point average of a 3.3. The conference office honored student-athletes in men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, baseball, softball, men’s tennis, and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
