Pawtucket police nab suspect in two robberies

PAWTUCKET – On Nov. 20, Pawtucket police were dispatched to 195 Mineral Spring Ave., Millie’s African Market, for a report of a robbery by a man with a large knife.

During the robbery, a struggle ensued between the suspect and a male customer and the customer was cut by the knife. The victim was transported to Miriam Hospital, where he was treated for a laceration to his right hand and released. After an investigation by Detectives David Silva and Paul Trout, they were able to develop a suspect, Gerardo Borras-Gonzalez, 32, of Pawtucket, and were able to apprehend him at his home. They were also able to connect Borras-Gonzalez to a previous armed robbery at 197 Mineral Spring Ave., Lion’s Pizza, occurring on Nov. 2.

Borras-Gonzalez has been charged with first-degree robbery, assault with intent to commit robbery, and felony assault. He was arraigned in Sixth District Court.
