Oscar W. "Jim" Menard – Blackstone

Oscar W. "Jim" Menard, 94, of Blackstone, Mass., passed away on December 27, 2018, at the Landmark Medical Center.

He was born in Woonsocket, R.I., son of the late Joseph & Aurore (Giguere) Menard.

Husband of Theresa B. (Menard) Menard for 72 years, they were married on June 29, 1946. He was the father of Roger E. Menard of Pittsfield, Vermont, Jean Alexandrowicz of Blackstone, Mass., and David Menard of Worcester, Mass. He was the grandfather of Michael Menard of Pittsfield, Vermont, Brian Menard of Milford, Mass., Carrie Shandra of New York City, Jamie Menard of Woodside, Calif., Daniel Menard of Madison, Wis., and Jeremy Menard of North Brookfield, Mass; great-grandfather to John Menard, Sophie Menard, Savannah and Bennett Menard. Oscar was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Menard.

Oscar (Jim) attended Woonsocket schools and entered the Navy serving as a gunners mate, Seaman 1st Class, during WWII. He worked at the former Blackstone Dye Co. Oscar operated several businesses upon honorable discharge from the Navy including door-to-door bakery delivery service, and Menard Bros. oil delivery for 30 years before retiring in the mid 80s. Oscar also worked for several funeral homes in the area as a limo driver and drove his own limousine for weddings, proms etc.

Funeral services and burial were held privately and arrangements are entrusted to the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., Woonsocket.
