Education Foundation hosts successful Winter Gala

Education Foundation hosts successful Winter Gala

A few weeks ago, the Cumberland Education Foundation (CEF) held its Winter Gala with over 200 guests in attendance. We raised over $17,000, which will be used to support grants to educators in Cumberland public schools. We would like to thank our local business collaborators in the event including: Kirkbrae Country Club, Stephanie Rajabiun, Michael Salvadore Jr., Michael Leary, Mitch Mackenzie, Rob Clarey/BCT, Grandstand Sports, and the Cumberland Jazz Band. Thank you to our sponsors including: Navigant Credit Union, Dean Warehouse and the Residential Properties Antrop and Williamson Team. Additionally, we received grants from the Applegate Fund at the R.I. Foundation and Bank Newport We Are All In Giving Program.

Our success was also due in large part to the generosity of more than 60 individuals and businesses who contributed to the gala. Please see the complete list of donors on our website at www.cumberlandedfoundation.org.

Last year, following our inaugural gala, we launched our grant program and awarded $8,000 in grants throughout the schools. To date we have awarded $2,500 in scholarships to graduating CHS seniors. We are a very proud of our accomplishments and we remain steadfast in our commitment to enhance the educational experiences of Cumberland students through the development and support of public and private partnerships.

The heart of this effort involves nurturing a town wide culture that supports education. We are so grateful to everyone who played a part in this amazing evening. If you could not attend this year, we hope you will be able to join us in 2019. We look forward to seeing you there.
