Pawtucket man faces child porn charges

PAWTUCKET – Peter Medeiros, a 55-year-old resident of 86 Magill St. in Pawtucket, has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of transfer of child pornography after a court-authorized search warrant was executed at his home Friday morning, Jan. 11.

The Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force recently initiated an investigation on an individual sharing child pornography over the internet. On Friday, members of the ICAC Task Force and the Pawtucket Police Department executed a search warrant at 86 Magill St. and identified Medeiros as the alleged owner of digital media used to possess and transfer child pornography.

Medeiros was previously arrested by the Pawtucket Police Department and convicted in May of 1999 on three counts of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation. He is currently on probation until 2029.

Medeiros was arraigned in Sixth Division District Court on the new charges and held on $5,000 surety bail with special bail conditions of limited internet use and no unsupervised contact with minors. In addition, he was remanded to the Adult Correctional Institutions as a Superior Court bail violator.
