Jean L. Morton - Cumberland

Jean L. Morton, 90, of Cumberland passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. She was the wife of the late Charles Morton and the late John Almeida.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Gladys (Benedict) Till. Jean had lived in Cumberland since 1967.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening and most of all the time she spent with her family. Jean’s Catholic faith was very important to her. She was an animal lover and loved “her kitties.”

She is survived by four daughters, Jean-Marie Higgins and her husband Lorne, Joyce Taratuta, Nancy Desautell, and Deanna Therien; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Marcia Yahgoobian, Andrea Savicki and Melody Tougas; and a stepson, Niles Morton. She was the mother of the late John Almeida; the sister of the late Edwin, Melvin, Curtis and Thomas Till; and the stepmother of the late Charles Morton.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in Saint Jean The Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, Mass. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Smithfield Animal Shelter, Quaker Highway, North Smithfield, RI 02896, would be appreciated. Arrangements are by O’Neill Funeral Home, Cumberland.
