Woman arrested in Pawtucket hit-and-run

PAWTUCKET – Police last Saturday arrested a woman suspected of hitting a pedestrian with her car on George Street and then fleeing the scene.

On Nov. 2, at around 7:45 p.m., Pawtucket police responded to the intersection of George Street and Grace Street for a report of a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian.

They found a woman lying in the road unresponsive and she was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.

Several witnesses provided a description of the vehicle involved. Detectives were called back to further investigate. They ended up obtaining a confession from the vehicle operator, Noelia Ortiz Negron, 35, of Pawtucket.

She was charged with one count of failing to stop at an accident resulting in serious injury or death and one count of driving on a suspended license. She also received a citation for operating without evidence of insurance and operating with a suspended registration. She was arraigned by a bail commissioner on Nov. 4.
