Massachusetts man convicted of Elm Street assault

PROVIDENCE – A Massachusetts man was convicted of domestic assault last week after he attacked his girlfriend and her sister on Elm Street in Woonsocket.

According to a press release from the office of Attorney General Peter Neronha, Edward Delossantos of Milford was convicted of several assault charges, malicious damage and driving a vehicle without the consent of the owner following a trial in Providence Superior Court on Nov. 14. During the trial, police presented evidence that on Oct. 6, 2016, Delossantos attacked his girlfriend at the time and her sister outside the girlfriend's Elm Street apartment. Police say Delossantos pounded on the windows of the sister's car and slashed the front tire before punching both women and pushing them to the ground. The assault eventually ended when a neighbor approached and called the police.

Woonsocket Police investigated the incident. Delossantos has not yet been sentenced.
