TEN31 dance company offering minority scholarships

PAWTUCKET – TEN31’s Metamorphosis Dance Company is taking action to diversify and expand its Youth Dance Program by offering two full scholarships to the program for students of color.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 fall semester – class will be offered in person or virtually as conditions allowed by the pandemic.

The scholarship applicant should be under the age of 18 and interested in studying dance.

This scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, shoes, tights, any dress code dance wear the student does not have access to, and costume costs.

The audition requirement is a one-minute video of dance improvisation and a three-paragraph artist statement on the theme “What does being an artist mean to you?”.

If the applicant is unable to send a recorded video improvisation, they may contact TEN31/MDYP for an in-person improvisation at the studio.

Applications are due by Sept. 7. For more information and to apply, email dance@wemakepretend.com .
