NORTHBORO, Mass. – The Upper Deck Baseball Academy’s U15 Showcase baseball team was clicking on all cylinders last week as it posted a 4-0 record at the High Heat Tournament

Upper Deck kicked off the four-day tournament on Monday, July 20, by posting an 8-3 victory over the Bombers Baseball Club at the NEBC, as George Sukatos picked up the win on the hill by tossing two-hit ball and allowing just one earned run in six innings of work.

Andy Ray delivered the big hit of the contest with a two-run homer, Connor Allard and Jack LaRose added two hits apiece, and Ryan Thompson, Anthony Martin, and Elijah Moffitt each knocked in a run.

The following day, Upper Deck topped the New Hampshire Prospects, 8-5, and received a solid outing from winning pitcher Mike Bradshaw, who struck out eight batters and allowed three hits and two runs in five innings of work. Mike Ficocelli’s two doubles and three runs batted in led the attack offensively, and Martin added a pair of hits.

The third day of the tournament saw Upper Deck sweep a doubleheader by blanking L&M Baseball, 9-0, and taking a 4-3 thriller from the New England Nor’Easters that saw Alex Iannuccilli knock in Moffitt with the game-winning run.

The victory over L&M saw LaRose pitch a three-hit shutout and strike out eight batters, Christian Vieira and Martin leg out triples, and Thompson and Ray add doubles. Thompson took the mound in the second game and allowed just one run in six innings of work, striking out seven along the way, and Ficocelli and Ray each had two hits and a run batted in.
