Bertil Johnson – Scituate

Bertil Johnson, 83, of North Scituate, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2020. He was the husband of Theresa (Paquin) Belleville. He was also the husband of the late Mary Teixeira.

Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Bertil and Rita (Beauchamp) Johnson. He worked as a steelworker at Washburn Wire in East Providence, and then as an industrial electrician at Rhode Island Hospital and the United States Postal Service for many years before retiring.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Rachel Emery (and husband Leo), Robert Johnson (and wife Michele), and Nancy Lapointe, all of Cumberland. He has nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Benjamin, Paige, Chase, Gwenyth, Olivia, Lynsie, Kaylee, and Jared, and one great-grandchild, Jack. He also leaves his sister, Linda Molack. He was the brother of the late John Johnson and Joan Robillard.

Bert will be remembered for many things. He was a hard worker, always appreciating the value of a dollar and the rewards of hard efforts. He was a good listener. He would pay attention, offer advice, and be a voice of reason. He was a source of comfort and security when we needed him. He was a tinkerer, always excited to delve into projects. He loved working with something old, to give it purpose and have it work again. He loved his church and his senior center and the interactions he had with the people there. He loved life and being part of holiday gatherings, going to sports games, or just being involved in ordinary daily events. He loved to laugh, to dance, and to travel on new adventures. Most of all, he will be remembered as a family man. He loved his family above all else and always wanted to be the best he could be in his role as son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
