Charles E. Hoyt – North Providence

Charles E. Hoyt, 89, of North Providence (47 yrs), passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.

Born in Attleboro, Mass., he was the son of the late Thomas and Elsie (Becker) Hoyt. He was married to Ruth (Ohlson) Hoyt for 57 years before her passing in 2005.

Mr. Hoyt was an electrician for 42 years before retiring in 1991. An avid reader and accomplished writer, his favorite pastime was using his infamous critical thinking skills to debate hot topics and world issues. His hobbies also included woodworking, gardening, cooking and playing the piano. Most of all, Mr. Hoyt loved spending time with his family and friends on any occasion.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Charles Hoyt Jr., of Pawtucket, Susan Wilcox and Pamela Sheehan, of North Providence; siblings, Flora Johnson and Carolyn Stephens; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Sandra Miner and Nancy Letourneau; granddaughter Amy Letourneau; brothers William, Thomas, Donald and Robert, along with his sisters Gertrude, Elsie, Geraldine, Marion, Dorothy and Charlotte.

All services were held privately and have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of Rhode Island.
